Teens charged in Patton Hill fire

A December church fire in Walker County first thought to be caused by faulty wiring is now being considered arson. Two arrests have been made.

Patton Hill Baptist Church’s building, located near Oakman, burned to the ground Dec. 20. No one was hurt in the fire.

In early January, 18-year-old Brady Kilpatrick and a juvenile were charged with second-degree arson and third-degree burglary with bond set at $45,000, according to Birmingham’s ABC 33/40.

Mark Otts is currently serving as Patton Hill Baptist’s interim pastor.

“[Associational leaders] have met with them, prayed with them, and we’re pledged to be involved with them,” Lucky Teague, director of missions for Walker Baptist Association, said following the fire.  (TAB)
