FBC Spanish Fort provides clean water

Providing clean water became a nearly yearlong goal for First Baptist Church, Spanish Fort, in 2011.

In honor of the Baldwin Baptist Association church’s 100th anniversary in

October, the women’s ministry launched a centennial missions project, Water for Life, in April.

It concluded the project with the start of the new year by sending a $10,068.24 check to Samaritan’s Purse.
The money will be used to purchase a water filtration system to provide clean water for hundreds of families in impoverished areas.

The women challenged the entire church to get involved, and members of all ages participated in fundraising.

The women gathered recipes and published and sold a cookbook; the children donated their Vacation Bible School missions offering; the youth held a spaghetti dinner; one member donated the proceeds from the sale of 45 dolls; and many individual members made contributions.
