Lamar Association will hold Missions Madness 6 on March 10 at First Church, Vernon. The event is for children in grades K–sixth and their leaders. The theme will be “A Cup of Water in Jesus’ Name” with a special emphasis on disaster relief. The Scripture verse will be Matthew 10:42. Registration will be from 8:45–9:10 a.m. The event will be from 9:10–2 p.m. Speakers will be Doug Foster of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries; Steve and Judy Anderson, an International Mission Board family serving in the Southeast Asia region; Becky Luther of Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union’s temporary emergency child care unit; Gary Rogers of Pickens Association’s chain saw unit; Greg Moore of Birmingham Association’s feeding unit; and David Honeycutt, a missions volunteer in Guatemala. There will be a Skype session with Jim Marcus, a North American Mission Board missionary in Michigan. There will be a hands-on missions project and letter writing to missionaries. An offering will go to the Lamar Association disaster relief fund and given in memory of Virginia Weeks. Clyde Stevens is pastor of First, Vernon.
