Beaverton Baptist Church celebrated a milestone anniversary April 29 marking 100 years of ministry.
Joyce White, a Beaverton Baptist member and anniversary organizer, said the event at the Lamar Baptist Association church was the product of a joint effort by many people.
The first worship service at 11 a.m. featured former Beaverton Baptist Pastor Larry Sexton. He delivered an encouraging message on keeping the faith and commended the church for 100 years of ministry.
Following the morning service, White said a “wonderful” potluck lunch was served on church grounds.
Charlie Ballew, former Beaverton Baptist pastor and current pastor of First Baptist Church, Winfield, delivered the second message at the 2 p.m. service.
Lonette Berg, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, along with two other representatives, presented a plaque to the church with at least 125 people in attendance.
Also included in the day’s services was a baptism service and special singing by various individuals including Scott Stokes, director of missions for Lamar Association.
Pastor Danny Stanford was encouraged by the day’s event.
“We had a wonderful crowd, two great messages and a good time of fellowship in the Lord,” Stanford said. “We hope to continue to minister unto the Lord [and] continue in ministry.”
