Southside Baptist Church, Troy, celebrated its 75th anniversary Feb. 12 in a Sunday morning service that recognized both the milestone date as well as former Southside Baptist pastors.
Several presentations were made to the Salem-Troy Baptist Association church by representatives from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) and the city of Troy.
According to Pastor Andrew Knick, it was a “celebration-type of service” and SBOM state missionary Mike Jackson delivered the day’s message.
Afterward the 400 attendees enjoyed a lunch together in the fellowship hall.
The church recently marked its vision-casting service a few weeks ago. Knick said Southside’s purpose — “loving God, loving others, reaching the world” — is central to its vision focus over the next few years to connect families to church ministry. “[We’re] really plugging into the family and getting the family more in tune with the direction God would have them to go,” he said.
