Alabama Baptists will certainly recognize the author and subject of “Tis Grace Thus Far,” evangelist Bobby Britt. 

In it, Britt chronicles his life from a young child, sharing details from his often difficult childhood that included losing his father at a young age, through his years as an evangelist and pastor.

Britt’s life has been full of contrasts, from years of successful preaching — more than 800 revivals — to what fellow evangelist Junior Hill described in the book’s Foreword as “valleys of despair … trials and tribulations.” In sharing his story, Britt seems to have included it all, even the events that he recalled with “shame and regret.” 

While many autobiographies appear to have been written to show how gifted and successful the subject is, this book has an honesty and transparency about it that inspire the reader. As Hill wrote, it is “good news for those who find themselves in bad times.”
