Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions Executive Director Rick Lance underwent colon surgery late afternoon Sept. 17 at a Montgomery-area hospital. Lance said the surgery was to repair a colon tear caused by diverticulitis.
According to family sources, his surgeon reports that Lance’s medical condition is excellent.
Doctors anticipate a five-day hospital stay for Lance followed by recuperation at home.
Officials said Lance will be out of the office for several days though he hopes to work from home within a couple of weeks.
Lance was scheduled to participate in a missions trip to Ukraine in early September but on the day he was to leave he was taken to the hospital where the colon tear was
eventually discovered.
