Rosalie Hunt is someone you should know. In addition to serving on The Alabama Baptist board of directors, she is retired from 32 years of missionary work in eight different countries in the Orient. She is also working on a writing project about the legacy of America’s first international missionaries.
Q: Why are you involved in missions?
A: Having grown up as an MK (missionary’s kid), I saw firsthand the world’s needs.
Q: What does missions demand of you?
A: It requires flexibility and patience.
Q: What do you get out of missions work?
A: A wonderful sense of fulfillment being able to help and see lives change, to have some sort of influence and impact.
Q: How do other family members support you in this ministry?
A: It was absolutely a team effort. We shared the same goals.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in missions in the future?
A: Our church in Guntersville set up a missions fund and they fund our going to do teaching and preaching in various countries. Since our retirement, the two of us have made more than 20 trips made possible by the church.
Q: What difference will being a missionary make for you in the future?
A: To me, it’s continuing, it doesn’t stop. It doesn’t seem like a thing of the past. It is what I still love doing.
