Uzbek charged for ‘illegally’ storing religious literature

 

URGENCH, Uzbekistan — After two raids on her home in Urgench in northwest Uzbekistan in January and being detained for 11 hours, Sharofat Allamova is facing criminal prosecution for “illegally” storing religious literature. The criminal charges carry a fine up to 100 times the minimum monthly wage or a prison term of up to three years.
