Australia’s cell phones offer Bible verses

SYDNEY, Australia — That beep on your cell phone may just be God calling. A new service called “Verse of the Day” allows Australia’s mobile phone users to read the Bible from their cell phone’s display screens.

The joint venture between Optus and the Australian Christian Channel allows Optus digital mobile phone customers to request that a short verse from the Bible be sent to their phones each day. Australian Christian Channel project manager Stephen Jeffs said, “This is an excellent opportunity to be able to touch the hearts of so many Australians when they need it most.”
