Former Muslim excited in sharing of conversion

GREEN BAY, Wis. — From his name, you might think Green Bay Packers defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila is a Muslim.

From his nickname, “KGB,” you might think he is a Communist. But the 6-foot-5-inch, 250-pound pro-bowler is a devout Christian.

“I was a Muslim at one time, and I remember knowing about Jesus, studying about Him with my friends and Athletes in Action,” he told television’s “The 700 Club” in mid-January. “And I remember coming here to Green Bay, and I said: ‘You know something, I know about Jesus.

“I’ve been doing it my own way for 22 years and it has brought me nothing but sadness. Let me do it His way.’ ” Gbaja-Biamila said. “I would not be doing what I’m doing if it wasn’t for God. It’s not because of my strength. This is truly because of the work of God.”
