Christians murdered in Colombia war zone

SAN VICENTE DE CAGUAN, Colombia — Two evangelical Christians died in late February in the “de-militarized zone” occupied by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The government’s military recently initiated an offensive aimed at driving the guerrilla army out of its stronghold in the department (state) of Caqueta. On February 27, Hector Pena, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of San Vicente de Caguan, died at the hands of unknown assailants as he was returning to his home. On February 28, FARC rebels shot dead Bernardo Urrego Osorio, a member of the San Vicente Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
