Evangelist team spreads gospel in India

MADURAI, India — A dozen evangelists joined with Mike Silva Evangelism in a mission to more than 320,000 people at festivals and rallies in and around the city of Madurai in south India. Silva, a partner evangelist with Luis Palau’s Next Generation Alliance, invited the team of evangelists to join his ministry in the Madurai mission. Evangelists from the United States, Australia, England and France participated in rallies in 20 locations in a 30-kilometer radius around Madurai. An estimated 101,000 people attended these rallies, and 17,800 made public statements of commitment to Jesus Christ.

Silva preached in Madurai to crowds of 220,000, and two of the rallies were televised. For the entire mission, an estimated 482,000 people heard the message in person or on television, and more than 43,000 people indicated they made a decisions for Christ. “To see so many thousands come to the Lord was an incredible blessing to all the evangelists,” said Tim Robnett, leader of the Next Generation Alliance project of the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. “Everyone returned to their home countries with fresh energy, commitment and joy.”
