Live at First Baptist Atlanta
Traditional/Daywind
If there was going to be a recording that had everything going for it, even before the first note was played, it has to be Greater Vision’s “Live at First Baptist Atlanta.”
This is one of the hottest groups on the road today and this recording was destined for greatness.
No matter how you measure recordings, “Live at First Baptist Atlanta” certainly holds up to comparison. It’s complete with a live orchestra (the Atlanta Festival Orchestra), nine songs from the pen of Rodney Griffin — not to mention a classic song straight from the “red book” — and the excitement that only a live recording can generate. Mix in Gerald Wolfe’s fine work as master of ceremonies and the solid singing of one of the most overlooked tenors in southern gospel music — Jason Waldroup — and this 56-minute concert is one you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Following the introduction by Charles Stanley, Greater Vision blends together old and new for their Atlanta audience. Along the way, you’ll hear the works of Rodney Griffin come to life in songs such as “At the Feet of Jesus,” “God’s Grace Is Sufficient for Me,” “Soon We Will See,” “Just Wait ’til He Stands Up” and “They Should Have Cried Holy.” And what Greater Vision program would be complete without the shape note singing? Aptly filling that need is “Well Done My Child.”
Some recordings hold the listener’s favor for only a few short weeks. But don’t look for “Live at First Baptist Atlanta” to fall into that category.
