Christmas
(Atlantic Records)
Plus One has become one of the Christian music industry’s most successful young acts over the past two years. Their first two albums were highly acclaimed for balancing the message of God’s redeeming love with premium pop appeal. The group’s third album, “Christmas,” ushers in a seasonal boyband style.
Don’t expect this album to pull any punches. It’s a very straightforward and subdued collection of old and new Christmas songs. In some aspects, it seems to be lacking the energy and intensity that is present on the group’s previous works. The group has collaborated with a number of songwriters and musicians to assemble an album that celebrates the holiday season. Two selections that stand out on the album are the a cappella arrangement of “Silent Night” and the updated version of “Grown Up Christmas List” now titled “A Prayer for Every Year.”
This album is sure to appeal to fans of the group.
Plus One delivers timeless Christmas melodies with tempered pop sensibilities that result in a collection of holiday songs that are sure to delight young ears this Christmas season.
