Voices of Mobile sings at Pentagon, IMB during Christmas tour

University of Mobile (UMobile) vocal ensemble Voices of Mobile performed a Christmas concert at the International Mission Board (IMB) on Dec. 11 and a day later made its second appearance in 2013 at the Pentagon, the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters.

The ensemble, one of 24 at the school, sang before an audience of about 250 in the Pentagon auditorium. The group first performed at the Pentagon chapel during its summer 2013 tour. The group was invited back to perform at the larger venue during its Christmas tour.

“It was such an honor to sing for missionaries at the IMB, and singing at the Pentagon was an amazing experience,” said Roger Breland, producer for the college student ensemble and executive director of the university’s Center for Performing Arts. Breland also serves as vice president for special projects at UMobile and producer for the school’s 11th annual Christmas Spectacular. More than 9,000 people attended a total of four productions of Christmas Spectacular in November, which showcases the talents of more than 300 student vocalists, instrumentalists, technical directors and more.

Voices of Mobile has just released a CD on the university’s new record label, 8Eighty Records. The CD, titled “Take Me to the King,” is available for download at www.8eightyrecords.com.
