Casey Darnell
North Point Music
Casey Darnell has released his second full-length project for the North Point Music label. Known for his worship-leading music style, his new self-titled album departs from the tried and true to feature a wide assortment of musical styles.
Dove Award-winning producer of the year Ian Eskelin takes the production helm and contributes to the songwriting effort. Darnell wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the new CD, with collaboration from Eskelin, Jon Steingard and Tony Wood.
One of the record’s best, “When You Smile,” recounts Darnell’s joy and amazement that he and his wife were ever able to get together.
Aptly described as Keith Urban-ish pop-country, the song’s excellent guitar work and jumping rhythms set it apart from much of the album. “Over and Over,” the record’s lead single, is another good one. Darnell’s church music isn’t ignored.
“Let My Soul Sing” is a great church-focused hymn, and the project opener “Marvelous” is the kind of moving praise and worship music Darnell and North Point Music are known for.
Darnell’s self-titled new release continues the excellent musical heritage of North Point Community Church, Alpharetta, Ga., and their music production arm North Point Music.
