DODOMA, Tanzania — The International Bible Society (IBS) provided comfort and hope to the survivors and families of victims of a June 24 train collision near Dodoma, Tanzania. The accident claimed the lives of more than 300 people. More than 1,000 people were on a passenger train when it collided with a freight train near Dodoma. IBS ministry groups distributed New Testaments during burial ceremonies and throughout the area to those seeking answers in their time of sorrow. Drawing on its Emergency Scripture Fund, IBS provided 2,000 New Testaments in the Kiswahili and Arabic languages. “We are giving out these Scriptures as quickly as possible to people who were involved in this crisis,” said Helen Lema, national coordinator of IBS-Tanzania. “We hope the Scripture will truly ease their pain.”
