Pastor Wayne Shelton and members of New Temple Baptist Church, Bagley, participated in a missions trip to Venezuela Aug. 110-17.
Holt Church, Tuscaloosa, participated in two missions events during the summer. The men’s missions team went to Bartlett, Tenn. to assist a Baptist church in completing a new sanctuary and the church youth spent a week conducting backyard Bible clubs in Gulf Shores.
Sipsey Association sponsored a summer missions trip to the Philippines under the direction of DOM Tom Vaughn. In addition to offering a medical clinic the team also conducted home and backyard Bible studies.
Crenshaw Association churches Brantley and Mt. Zion recently held a day of recognition for Angela Bentley for her upcoming missions trip to Venezuela. There was a special music program as well as a dedication service in her honor.
Youth from First Church, Vernon, conducted two missions trips this summer. One trip was to M-Fuge at the University of Mobile and the other was to North Carolina where they conducted backyard Bible clubs and visited nursing homes and homes for the developmentally challenged.
First Church, Sulligent, members Jeff Chaffin, Dallas and Marsha Bozeman, accompanied the church’s youth at Mission-Fuge in Charleston.
Some members from First Church, Childersburg, left for a missions trip to Brazil’s capital, Brazilia, as part of a team that will conduct simultaneous revivals in 59 churches throughout the area. The trip was organized by the Birmingham Baptist Association.
Sycamore Church, Sycamore, conducted a youth missions trip this summer with 21 youth and adult members. Activities included backyard Bible clubs, personal evangelism and worship services in campgrounds in Cherokee, N.C.
South Roebuck Church, Birmingham, sponsored 10 single adults on a missions trip to Matamoros, Mexico. The group worked with David Garza, founder of Jesus Is the Only Way Ministries. The group’s major task was to finish building two medical clinics in an area of the city known as Squaters’ Camp.
First Church, Montgomery, sent missions teams to Mexico, Cuba and Kenya this summer with plans for another group to go to Mozambique in Sept.
Three church members recently returned from Hong Kong where they assisted in teaching VBS at the Kowloon Baptist Church.
Church member Amanda McCurley, Oakey Ridge Church, Andalusia, is currently in Saint Vincent, West Indies, helping to build a village church.
Coffee Association sponsored MissionTrip 2000, a group effort of 7 churches who sent 30 members to Clarksdale, Mississippi, to assist in VBS, conduct a puppet ministry and lead in music activities.
Morningview Church, Montgomery, conducted a missions trip this summer to New Jersey. The group assisted in the building of a church for Haitian immigrants.
