Jim Davis. Abilene, Texas: Leafwood Publishers, 2014. 238 pp. (Paperback).
I wasn’t very far into this book before I started wondering why I haven’t heard of Jim Davis before. By the time I finished it, I was certain I would hear more from him in the future. “Why Me?” is actually the first book written by Davis, a constitutional attorney from Birmingham, but Davis has written and taught Bible studies for many years.
My guess is that all of us have asked the “why me?” question — and few have been able to find satisfying answers.
This book tackles one of the toughest topics in life and proceeds to deliver exactly what the title promises: a carefully developed and biblically supported explanation of suffering and the right questions to ask. The book is conversational in tone and an engaging, enjoyable read, in spite of the heaviness of the topic.
Davis is a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church, Hoover.
