Margaret’s Macedonia Baptist #1 holds centennial celebration

Macedonia Baptist Church #1, Margaret, marked 100 years in ministry Sept. 21.

The St. Clair Baptist Association church began the celebration in January with a special program each month leading up to the September celebration.

During the final celebration service special presentations were made by Ben Chandler, St. Clair Association director of missions; Johnie Sentell, Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative; and Rick Lance, Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions executive director. Church member Elvie Phillips gifted the church with a painting of its first building.

Pastor Pat Giles brought the message, focusing on the significance of 100 years of service and the importance of looking to the future.

To conclude the service church member Joseph Moseley prayed a prayer of dedication over a commemorative bell tower. Lunch on the grounds immediately followed.
