Hunter Street members find ways to serve city

Members of Hunter Street Baptist Church, Hoover, participate in Serve My City, a new adult small group ministry that seeks to provide an “opportunity to meet needs and build relationships with people where we live, work and play in order to demonstrate the love of Christ,” according to the church’s website.

The Kendrick/Pyron adult small group hosted a book drive in April for its Serve My City task and donated books to the transplant floor of Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Members (above) were stationed at a table at Patton Creek Barnes & Noble bookstore where shoppers could purchase new books and donate them. A table also was set up at The Summit Barnes & Noble. Members (below) pose with transplant child life coordinator Lori Traywick (center) and 641 books.
