Want to Know God?

Want to Know God?

First Baptist Church, Ashville

Life is complicated sometimes, isn’t it? With all the amazing technology available today, one would think we’d have our lives together so neatly that we wouldn’t need anything outside of our own capabilities and the resources we can access. But nothing could be further from the truth.

We are made for relationships. We all have that need in common. We draw strength from the good relationships in our lives. When I say “good” I’m talking about the ones where communication flows both directions and there is mutual respect, love and trust. Those types of relationships should be valued greatly.

When a relationship becomes broken, one of two things will happen. The relationship will either end or there will be reconciliation between people involved. Miriam-Webster defines reconciliation as, “the act of causing two people or groups to become friendly again after an argument or disagreement.” The definition is simple but the application can be complicated.

Though I may not have met you personally, I think I can accurately guess something about you. At some time in your life you have had a problem with someone you cared about and the situation needed to be reconciled. Everyone has experienced this situation, haven’t they? You’ve tried to reconcile with someone you cared about and your relationship with God is much the same. In Romans 5:10 we read, “we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” Because of sin our relationship with God was broken beyond human repair (Rom. 3:23). We cannot do enough to earn God’s forgiveness; we must repent of our sins and place our faith in Christ.

The most important relationship in your life is the one you have with God Himself. Your relationship with God holds the key to every other relationship in your life. Trust Christ as Savior today. Only then will you begin to experience relationships to their fullest.
