Stamp Baptist commemorates centenniel

Sand Mountain Baptist Association’s Stamp Baptist Church, Fort Payne, commemorated its 100th anniversary April 19.

James Grindstaff, former 29-year pastor of Stamp Baptist, opened the celebration with prayer at 10 a.m. Wendell Dutton, Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative, presented a plaque to the church.

Throughout the day special singing was performed by the Waldrop Sisters, Doris Gilbert and the Mize family, each of whom were current or former members. Sand Mountain Association Director of Missions David Patty preached on God’s love during the morning service, basing his message on John 3:16.

Following a noon lunch, a time of sharing by 6 of the 7 living former pastors followed. The celebration was concluded in prayer by former pastor Gene Lewis.

Pastor Kenneth Moses said, “It was a great opportunity to worship the Lord with present and former members.”
