Taylorville commemorates 50 years in ministry

Taylorville Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, celebrated its 50th anniversary Aug. 30 with about 300 current and former members, family and friends.

The anniversary committee, chaired by Pat Crawford, “did a spectacular job putting different strands of the past together,” said Pastor Curtis Kelley.

Music minister Greg Crowe led a special music service at 10 a.m. and an 11 a.m. worship service hosted guest speaker Rick Mitchell. Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative Angie Cooper presented the church with a plaque and a fellowship lunch followed.

The church’s women’s and men’s ministries, deacons and anniversary committee all made improvements to the campus prior to the event and helped decorate and set up memorabilia in the family life center for the celebration.

“The day went great,” Kelley said. “It was really over our expectations.”
