Lakeview Baptist Church, McCalla, celebrated its 50th anniversary in a full service April 10.
In the 10:30 a.m. service Jeff Gilliam, former pastor of Lakeview Baptist for 14 years, spoke and Alabama Baptist Historical Commission Executive Director Lonette Berg presented a commemorative certificate to the church. A ladies quartet from Lakeview, Joyful Belles, sang special music, as did The Mission Heirs, a quartet from the McCalla area. Also, George Cooley, pastor of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Association church, played guitar.
During the catered lunch that followed the service, the approximately 170 participants were able to view various displays with scrapbooks on Lakeview’s history including its missions trips to Brazil.
