“Cold Case Christianity” by J. Warner Wallace

As a Christian since 1987, I’ve heard endless attempts by skeptics and atheists to refute the four Gospel writers’ evidence of Christ’s ministry and resurrection. But this book can really make someone take another look.

J. Warner Wallace is a well-known Los Angeles homicide detective, often called into courtrooms to give evidence of a crime. He also was an atheist. He decided once and for all to use his expert detective skills to prove that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were either lying or imagining things. But as he used his expertise, he found more and more evidence that their accounts are true and gave his life to Christ.

In his book he employs the main tactics that detectives use to prove their case against a suspect and to prove whether witnesses are telling the truth. With historical and forensic facts that back up the Word of God, Wallace dispels secular statements like, “If the gospel were true, all four writers would have said exactly the same thing.”

But this isn’t a snoozer full of statistics for theologians. It’s entertaining, eye-catching and the information is memorable for anyone from 12 to 90 (there’s also a kids’ version). Wallace’s style of writing is so engaging and down to earth that this is an “I can’t put it down” adventure in Christian apologetics, with the additional use of cute sketches that illustrate the same kind of evidence he points to in a courtroom.
