My Jesus Story

My Jesus Story

I can remember the night that I surrendered my life to Jesus as if it were last night. I remember sitting at the computer in the wee hours of the morning, playing a game and thinking about all of the trials my little family was going through. I remember my heart starting to beat really fast and getting hot (this was October, folks).

Then somehow I began to read the Bible study that came in my email every day. I had been talking to my pastor at the time, Brother Leonard Hill, as well as anyone else that would talk to me about salvation, and as soon as I opened the study I began to cry. The study was based on Matthew 11:28–30: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Weary and burdened? Oh yes, Lord, that was me. Then I remembered what my husband and Brother Leonard had told me. They told me there were no magic words when I wanted to talk to Jesus — just talk. He would be there and He would be listening. So that night, while sobbing with my broken heart, I slid out of that computer chair to my knees and cried out to Jesus.

After a lengthy discussion with my Father, I felt a peace descend upon me. This, I realize now, was the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, coming to me. I openly received God’s gift and God’s grace.

Will you consider letting Jesus come into your heart? He knows, He’s ready, He’s willing and He’s crying out to you for repentance.
