Former Butler Baptist Association DOM ‘Brother Allen’ Winn dies at 66
Emory “Brother Allen” Winn Jr., retired director of missions for Butler Baptist Association, died March 4. He was 66.
A native of Brunswick, Georgia, he earned degrees from Mobile College (now University of Mobile) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Prior to his decade of service in Butler Association, Winn was pastor of Spring Creek Baptist Church, Honoraville. Upon his retirement in June 2018 Winn said he accepted Jesus as a 10-year-old in Sunday School after hearing the story of the woman who wept and kissed Jesus’ feet. He felt the call to ministry while a high school student and said he remained faithful to his calling by making himself available for whatever service God would have him do and by prioritizing his alone time with God.
Winn was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Susan. He is survived by daughters, Melanie, Ashley and Robin; and five grandchildren. (TAB)
