A natural ministry for Baptists

Each of these issues, and others, has claim on every believer in Christ because each is a moral issue based on the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Granted, no one can have a passion for every issue. But as long as a Christian brother or sister is working to champion a biblically based position, whether it is opposing abortion on demand or eliminating poverty, that effort should be encouraged.

Barna suggests that churches wishing to engage their members in ministry might facilitate a hands-on response to poverty. He predicts it would activate a lot of latent faith and resources among the members. For Alabama Baptists, that would be a natural ministry; for certainly, “the poor are with us always.”
