For families who have a heart to care for children but adoption isn’t the direction for them right now, foster parenting can offer an abundance of blessings, according to Paul Miller, executive director of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries (ABCH).
"The greatest motivation (to be a foster parent) is that you’re going to be there for a child that for a number of reasons can’t be with their family for now," Miller said. "You’re there in a crisis to love them and share Christ’s love with them."
In the first nine months of 2006, ABCH placed 104 children in foster care. People who are interested in serving as foster families go through background checks and training.
