If you are running out of space in your once comfortable church facility or your buildings need a new, more up-to-date look, then you may be considering expansion or remodeling.
But building professionals encourage church leaders to consult an experienced professional before beginning any construction project.
For Alabama Baptists who are planning to build, the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) and LifeWay Christian Services organize two identical building conferences each January to help churches construct facilities that honor God, fulfill the Great Commission and reach people for Christ.
In 2006, the conferences will be held Jan. 26 at First Baptist Church, Decatur, in Morgan Baptist Association and Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church, Clanton, in Chilton Baptist Association from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The event, themed Building to Revitalize and Evangelize, will consist of several general sessions led by state missionaries and professionals in the building community.
Topics include the importance of building good facilities, financing construction projects, master planning for long-range growth and leading your church to build.
Break-out sessions will provide information on choosing an architect, remodeling, media, the 21st-century church and multipurpose and educational space.
To register for the conference, contact the associational missions and church planting office before Jan. 2 at 1-800-264-1225, Ext. 383 or prhodes@alsbom.org. (TAB)
