Bryan Gill is an author through and through. He’s attempting to write more books — all at the same time — than most people read in a year.

And while it was The Alabama Baptist that gave him his first byline, Gill recently made his national debut in the newly released “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad.”

Gill’s story about his father, David, garnered page 1 in a book of 101 Father’s Day-related articles.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be published in such a widely read book,” said Gill, Baptist Collegiate Ministry director for Metro Memphis, Tenn. “I hope I never get used to the butterflies of seeing my name in print. I hope millions of people read it (and) see a beautiful picture of God’s love. People need to know their Dad loves them.”

Gill’s story revolves around his final high school football game. A win meant his team would play in the state championship game, but his team lost by three points.

In humiliation, Gill did not want to see his dad, but with his dad’s whistle came a dad’s love. Gill thanks his dad for his unconditional love and for mirroring his heavenly Father’s love for him.

Gill grew up in First Baptist Church, Eufaula, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Opelika, while a student at Auburn University. He also served as student minister for Farmville Baptist Church, Auburn. While working on his master of divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, Gill served in intern positions at Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, and Shades Crest Baptist Church, Bluff Park.

He has also served as a North American Mission Board summer missionary and worked with the collegiate and student office of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. (TAB)
