The annual meeting of the Alabama Baptist State Convention kicked off yesterday with a full day of sessions to update and report to messengers and be encouraged and challenged through sermons and worship.
Those in attendance heard from outgoing convention president Tim Cox, State Board Executive Director Rick Lance and various Alabama Baptist entities.
Messengers approved a $37 million budget for 2022 and $23 million for special offerings. The motion to appoint a sexual abuse task force to review policies and practices of CP-funded entities and the State Board also was approved.
The day ended with special guests Christy Nockels, a popular Christian singer, and Jamie Dew, president of New Orleans Seminary.
