An update on the Alabama Baptist Christian Life Commission (CLC) was given by Philip Morris, pastor of Heflin Baptist Church, Heflin, to Alabama Baptist messengers.
“We encourage Alabama Baptists to follow the Great Commission by being involved in the cause of world hunger,” Morris said.
The CLC reported that throughout the past year Alabama Baptists contributed $825,072 toward the cause of world hunger. The monies collected are distributed between the North American Mission Board, which receives 20 percent, and the International Mission Board which receives 80 percent.
The CLC has set aside the second Sunday in October to emphasize and receive an offering for world hunger. The CLC also urges observance of other Sundays to bring attention to issues such as sanctity of human life, racial reconciliation, substance abuse prevention, citizenship and religious liberty, social issues, anti-gambling and ALCAP Sunday.
