A Smiths Station man has pleaded guilty to arson, burglary and criminal mischief in connection to the January fires at Greater Peace and Goodwill AME Church in Crawford and Woodland Baptist Church, Phenix City, in Russell Baptist Association.
Geoffrey Tyler Parquette faces 10 years in prison and still more charges in Lee County for the January fire at Greater Bethelpore Baptist Church in Smiths Station, according to Russell County Chief Deputy District Attorney Buster Landreau.
Parquette and James Scott Clark, who are professed Satanists, were 21 years old when they were arrested shortly after the fires. While Parquette will be sentenced July 29, Clark, also from Smiths Station, is awaiting trial. (TAB)
