NORTHPORT, Ala. — Peggy Barlow Sutton, an emeritus Southern Baptist missionary in Latin America, died March 25. She was 67. A native of Tuscaloosa, she and her husband, H. Thomas Sutton, were appointed by the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board) in 1969.
She served as a dorm parent in Guatemala City, a church and home outreach worker in Barranquilla and Tunja, Colombia, a bookstore worker in Bogota, Colombia, and with book deposit ministries in Bolivia and Venezuela. In 1993, the couple transferred to the Baptist Spanish Publishing House in El Paso, Texas, where they served until retirement in 1996. Prior to missionary appointment, Sutton worked as a secretary in Mobile.
Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by three daughters, Kaye Sutton of Tuscaloosa, Kristy Howell of Sulligent, Laurie Collins of Madison and four grandchildren.
