A pastor and two family members were slain and his infant grandchild sustained a serious machete wound when extremists ambushed the family Jan. 16.
Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacked the family on the Jos-Barkin Ladi highway in Nigeria’s Plateau state, reported Christian Daily International-Morning Star News.

Evangelical Missionary Society of the Evangelical Church Winning All told the media outlet that Bulus Madaki, his daughter and his son-in-law were killed in the attack. The pastor’s 3-month-old granddaughter had been cut on the head and left to die. She survived, but the attack left her an orphan.
Madaki had been serving at one ECWA mission station and recently had been transferred to another, the society stated.
ECWA member Cletus Ali told Christian Daily-Morning Star, “Persecution will never end and so also evangelism will never end. We pray for [the attackers] and believe they will one day receive salvation.”

Nigeria is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian. “More Christians were killed in Nigeria than in any other country from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025,” states Christian Daily-Morning Star, referencing information from Open Doors.
