For Suha Jouaneh Shahin, her job is her ministry. Shahin is principal of The Baptist School of Amman (ABS) in Jordan and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in education administration from Samford University in Birmingham. She represents the future of teacher education in Jordan and is a tangible expression of Samford’s partnership with ABS.
“It has always been my dream to continue my higher education at a respectable international university, and I had been praying about it and looking for the right one for a very long time,” Shahin said.
“We had already met Suha Shahin, and through the relationship with her, we knew that the possibility of such a partnership would be very strong,” said Jeanie Box, dean of Samford’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies. “She is a joy to work with and is passionate about improving teaching and learning processes.”
ABS is a private Christian K–12 school comprised of 1,200 students. With a Muslim student population of 37 percent, Shahin takes her responsibility for each student seriously. “My job is my ministry, too. I pray for it every day and take every chance to testify about my faith.”
