In March 2014, a semi truck hit the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Center Star in Killen. The church recently paid off a $1.1 million note stemming from that unexpected rebuilding project.

Louie F. Reynolds Jr., of Enterprise, died June 19. He was the director of religious education at Fort Rucker for more than 26 years and served several Baptist churches. He was 92.
