Alabama Baptist associations have a variety of ministries occuring among individuals, churches and the associational offices. The next four pages provide glimpses of some of these. Associations were asked to provide information to the Alabama State Board of Missions about their ministries. Those who did so can be found on this page through page 13.
Baldwin Association is sponsoring campus ministry at Faulkner State Community College and prison ministry at Loxley Community Work Release Center.
Cahaba Association held a three-day rally this past October, including a unity rally with 25 churches in Perry County. A total of 425 high school students made decisions for Christ. Joe Bob Mizzell of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions conducted an Intentional Evangelism associational wild game banquet at Hopewell Baptist Church, Marion, with more than 200 in attendance.
Cherokee Association’s Intentional Evangelism emphasis has been launched with a goal of holding two evangelistic outreach events each year.
Judson Association’s annual music festival, led by Ronnie Marshall, was held in August at Judson Baptist Church, Abbeville, with some 300 people attending.
Madison Association has designated 2005 as the year to implement the Great Commandment/Great Commission Ministries structure. The association’s ministry teams of mission development, church development, international ministries, church and community ministries, and leadership deveolpment are working well.
Muscle Shoals Association began its Intentional Evangelism effort this year. Just two months after the Intentional Evangelism rally, reports show baptisms are up. Five associational Intentional Evangelism events have been scheduled for 2005, and some type of simultaneous evangelism effort is being planned for 2006.
Salem-Troy Association now has two pilot churches for Intentional Evangelism.
Selma Association held Intentional Evangelism events in associational churches, including Westwood Baptist Church, a hunting and fishing Sports Camp in February; Valley Grande Baptist Church, annual Open Buddy Bass Tournament in April.
St. Clair Association has begun a literature collection and recycling ministry. It also conducted a Camp Sonshine Debt Reduction Project and will be debt free by June 1. The association received a new church under watchcare — CrossPoint Church, Trussville.
