Atheist billboard removed in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. — An atheist billboard has been removed from where it was posted in Lincoln, Nebraska, after residents in the area said they would boycott surrounding businesses if it wasn’t taken down.

The billboard, which said, “The Good Life Without God? It’s possible,” was sponsored by the Lincoln Atheists and was meant to stay up until Nov. 10, according to The Christian Post.

The advertising company, Lamar Advertising, took it down, saying they had to respect the landowners at Subway-Phillips 66, which leases the company space for the billboard.

“At this point, we’re just going to refund them all of their money, even though they got some display time,” said Scott Morton, general manager of Lamar’s Lincoln branch.

Shawn Capler, marketing director of the Lincoln Atheists, was quoted as saying that the group was “disappointed that we don’t get an equal platform to share ideas.” (TAB)
