Autauga Baptist Association now has stronger connections to two churches thanks to a vote by messengers to its annual meeting Oct. 14.
Messengers voted to allow First Baptist Church, Posey Cross Road, in Prattville to join Autauga Association.
They also agreed to bring Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Prattville, under watch care of the association with the intention of it becoming a full-fledged member in the coming months.
“We usually have churches under watch care for a year before they become full-fledged members of the association,” said Bill Morgan, director of missions for Autauga Association.
He said the pastor and music minister of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist, a black congregation, had been attending the association’s pastors conference and associational leaders encouraged their church to join.
“We are really excited about Mount Sinai and about First Baptist Church, Posey Cross Road,” Morgan said. “It’s going to be a great relationship.”
The 102-member First, Posey Cross Road, entered a period of watch care in 2007, when Pastor James Thomas Roy started the church.
“I had been pastor of two other Baptist churches that were members of the association, and I felt that it was important for us to be a part (of it),” Roy said.
“Churches can accomplish much more together as workers for Christ.” (TAB)
