Baptist church secretaries set to meet

The annual convention of the Alabama Association of Baptist Secretaries (AABS) will be April 25-28 at Judson College in Marion.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Rejoice and Be Glad,” based on Psalm 118:24, according to Janie McBay, AABS president.

The meeting’s general sessions will be in the chapel in Jewett Hall. Breakout sessions will be in classrooms of various buildings.

The conference begins April 25 with registration from 3:30 p.m.-6 p.m. and ends at noon April 28.

Dale Huff, office of LeaderCare and church administration with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), will be the devotion leader for the conference. Jim Swedenburg, director of annuities and insurance at the SBOM, will lead a session titled “Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti,” exploring the dynamics of interpersonal communication and relationships among office staff.

Other featured speakers are Barbara Joiner and Page Hughes. Joiner is a member of First Baptist Church, Columbiana. Hughes is co-founder of Anchor Deep Ministries, with her husband, Les Hughes, who is senior pastor of Westwood Baptist Church, Alabaster.
