Barrett, Oliver Lewis

Oliver Lewis Barrett, a pastor in Alabama churches for more than 20 years, died Jan. 4.

Barrett served as director of missions with the Tallapoosa Baptist Association in the 1950s and 1960s. Following that, he served as director of missions for the Bethlehem Baptist Association, where he continued his ministry until his retirement in 1975.

Barrett and his wife, Maggie, moved to Dadeville after retiring, where he was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

His death followed an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Burial was in Dadeville City Cemetery. Barrett is survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. (TAB)
