Lyle W. Dorsett, the Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism at Beeson Divinty School at Samford University, was officially installed Jan. 31. And included on the program was Graham’s close ministry companion Cliff Barrows.
Barrows, music director for Billy Graham Crusades, preached the sermon for Dorsett’s installation service.
“Evangelism is so much of Billy’s heart and my heart,” Barrows said. “I wanted to express some of the thoughts that guided us these years.
“My challenge to Lyle is that he will be a beacon that will shine here and that he will have a passion for souls,” he said.
Dorsett, the founding pastor of Church of the Great Shepherd in Wheaton, Ill., is part of the Anglican Mission in America congregation in Birmingham. The author of 18 books, Dorsett came to Beeson from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.
“Having this Billy Graham chair at Beeson is similar to my salvation in this way — undeserved, unearned and unrepayable.
“I want to encourage these young women and men to go deep with the Lord and go out and share Him,” he said. (TAB)
