Longtime Alabama pastor C.C. Bennett died Nov. 11. He was 90 years old.
Bennett and his wife, Gladys, came to Alabama in the early 1940s as missionaries, sponsored by the Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union, to the immigrants in Baldwin County. He went on to serve as pastor of Alabama Baptist churches in Robertsdale, Birmingham, Hartford, Andalusia and Wilsonville before retiring from Lincoln Baptist Church after more than 30 years in Alabama pulpits. He continued to serve as interim pastor for several churches, including First Baptist Church, Talladega.
Bennett graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (TAB)
