Bessemer Association’s Southcrest Baptist robbed

Burglars walked off with the safe from Southcrest Baptist Church, Bessemer Association, sometime during the night of Sept. 21 or the early morning hours of Sept. 22, according to Pastor Scott Bush.

The safe had the church’s Sunday evening worship service offering. Also stolen was a box containing keys to all of the doors of the church, necessitating the replacement of all of the locks.

“They picked up a few souvenirs from my bookshelf and stole $8 from a missions fund jar,” Bush said.

He added that the burglars broke into all of the church’s buildings, then broke all of the interior door locks.

The church as added extra security measures after the burglary, which is under investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Bush said.
