Bethel Baptist Church, Odenville, held it s annual churchwide picnic June 4 at Shocco Springs Conference Center in Talladega.
More than 250 church members participated in recreational activities including swimming in the pool, the aqua jump, horseshoes, volleyball and paddle boating. The picnic concluded in the evening with a hot dog supper and fellowship.
The church, which was hit by a tornado in April 1998, has only grown and become more unified since then.
After the tornado demolished their entire church building, members of Bethel were meeting in 39 different locations across the city and worshiping in a high school gym.
Now that the church has been rebuilt, there are 1,200 members who have proven that “strength and growth through adversity proves that God truly blesses,” said associate pastor Randy Gunter, director of the picnic. (Shocco)
