In preparation for the 150th anniversary celebration at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Linden, in Bethel Baptist Association, members installed new siding and new carpet at the church.
And on Sept. 23 the church gathered together to celebrate.
Former pastor Don Newton was the guest speaker, and special music was brought by Betty Sue Gandy, Pastor Daniel Gandy and Greta and Troy Henderson.
Jerrol Hare, from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented the church with a certificate recognizing the anniversary.
Old photos and memorabilia were on display, and a history of the church was written by church member Mary Schroeder.
“It was a wonderful day. Getting to see former members was so special,” Schroeder said.
